I Tried (and Judged) a Leave-In Conditioner

So why did I only know of this now?

Shameless confession: I don’t care much about how my hair looks as long as it looks decent, in an effortlessly-I-woke-up-like-this kind of way (I know, ambitious). Shampoo, conditioner, a little blow-dry if I have time — and I’m off the door.

Those hair trends? Well, hair vitamins seems a bit too much, hair oil got me images of greasy strands, and dry shampoo is just…no. So when I heard about the concept of a leave-in conditioner, I really thought wow this product cannot get any more extra. I mean just shower well and you should be okay, right?

But hey. Conditioner has got to be the only hair product I love. It makes my hair so soft, nourished, and moisturized. And it’s just so darn fragrant. In fact, when I’m in desperate mode, I slop in a bunch of conditioner on my hair with the hopes to save its dullness.

So alright. Fine. If there’s any hair trend I’ll give a shot, let’s try this coveted leave-in conditioner.

AVEDA Nutriplenish Leave-In Conditioner

The Verdict:

It smells so good.

I hate perfume but my leave-in conditioner smelled like berry goodness (specifically, Pomegranate). A few sprays before I left for work and it gave me that whip of confidence that for sure I’d smell good all day long. And for a perfume hater like myself, it’s important to note that the fragrance wasn’t strong at all. Just that right amount.

My hair looked fresh.

You might think I’m crazy but believe me — my hair didn’t just feel alive. It looked alive. The first time I placed it on damp hair, I checked after an hour, and it looked as if it heightened my showered hair to make it look more vibrant. As in, healthier, smoother, and… just generally more flowy.

Surprisingly, no tangles.

For the second time, I tried it on dry hair. You know that feeling when your hair is sticky from natural humid or heat, and gets semi-tangled mid-day? All that — erased. It felt as if the leave-in conditioner served as a sort of hair shield from sun and dirt, keeping that natural moisture throughout the day. (I, later on, found out my product had some fancy sand ginger, which apparently protects from UV rays).

Pretty much, I’d say I’m impressed. The product takes a few seconds to put on (literally 3 to 4 sprays will do) and the benefits last throughout the day, in varying weather and situations. I didn’t find myself reapplying the product, and I was just totally feeling my hair.

And if you’re curious about what product I used, of course, I tried the household brand when it comes to premium haircare — AVEDA. Won’t lie, the cute coral pink packaging got me and the Nutriplenish line was just too hard to resist since it was all-natural, no chemicals.

Well, for what it’s worth — that leave-in conditioner was undoubtedly worth every penny. So much so that it rightfully earns itself a spot filed under my daily products for keeps.

Totally repurchasing a bottle…or two.
